Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted a mandated announced initial inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. This is a new child day center and no children were in care. The two rooms and bathrooms were inspected as well as the outside areas. This center used to be a religious-exempt facility. The center has plenty of age-appropriate toys and supplies that were in place to begin operation. Emergency supplies were inspected and in order. The center has a playground across the street from the church that is in the process of being cleaned and mulch refurbished. The center will not use the playground equipment until the licensing inspector has inspected it. The center has a grassy area to be used for outdoor play and also a parking lot for riding toys to be used until the playground is brought up to standards.
The qualified director attended CDC Phase II training on August 18, 2021. Board officer background checks were reviewed and are in order. Staff has the required training to begin operation. The center does not plan on administering medications at this time. The local school system will be providing food. One violation is identified on the violation notice. Thank you and please contact your inspector at 276-698-9981 with any questions.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not have cleaning supplies locked.
Evidence:
1. In the bathroom in room # 214, cleaning supplies were not locked. Cleaning supplies were above the toilet not accessible to children but there were not locked.
