Technical Assistance:
Completion of the Virginia Health and Safety Update training for child care staff is required annually of subsidy vendors and their staff. This requirement is stated on the vendor agreement (section 7), the subsidy regulation 8VAC20-790-600-H for centers, and the Child Care VA website. Subsidy and their training staff update this free training every fiscal year, so providers and facilities are essentially accessing the latest version of the update training at any time.

Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

This inspection was initiated and concluded on 09/08/2021. There were 81 children present with 18 staff supervising within 9 classrooms. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards, codes, or law. No violations were issued.

If you should have any questions, please call or send an email to charlie.perkins@doe.virginia.gov. Thank you.
