This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 9/3/2021 and concluded on 9/14/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were zero children present with one staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of two child records and two staff records were reviewed. All Board Officer and Agent records were reviewed as well.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review and discussion with staff, the child day center failed to obtain a copy of the results of a sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years as required by the Code of Virginia.
Evidence:
1. The record for Board Agent #1 contained an out-of-state search of the sex offender registry dated 9/7/2021. The individual has served as an Agent for the center since 2018. The deadline for obtaining the documentation to comply with out-of-state background checks was 12/31/2020.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
