This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews (if applicable) and a virtual tour of the program (if applicable).
A renewal inspection was initiated on 9-29-21 and concluded on 9-30-21. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 29 children present, ranging in ages from 5yrs to 12yrs, with 3 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 6 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-4 Description: Based on review of staff files and discussion with administration, the center failed to maintain compliance with this standard related to CPR/FA as required.
Evidence:
There is only one staff, staff #3, who is certified in MAT. This staff member is not always on site when child #6, who has emergency medication, is present at the center. Children with medication must be in care of a staff member who holds current certification in MAT.Plan of Correction: Classes have been scheduled for MAT re-certification, however have been canceled due to COVID. Another class is scheduled for Oct. 12, 2021. Both staff held previous MAT certification, but it expired in August 2021.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-530-A Description: Based on review of staff files and discussion with administration, the center failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required related to CPR/FA.
Evidence:
Currently there is only 1 staff who holds certification in CPR/FA, staff #1.
Staff #2 transports the children from public school each day. Children are required to be in the care of staff who have current certification is CPR/FA at all times. Therefore, compliance with this standard is not met during transportation from public school while on the vehicle driven by staff #2.Plan of Correction: Previously scheduled re-certification classes for CPR/FA had been scheduled, then canceled due to COVID. Another class is scheduled for Oct.12, 2021. The CPR/FA certification for staff #2 expired August 2021.
