This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on October 5, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 36 children present, ranging in ages from 4 months to 5 years old, with 13 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center did not complete an Out of State Sex Offender Registry Check for an individual that has resided outside the state of Virginia in the past 5 years prior to the first day of employment.
Evidence:
1. On a Sworn Statement, Staff #2 listed the State of Maryland as a state that they lived in the past 5 years. Staff #2's(Date of hire -09/07/2021) record did not contain documentation of a Sex Offender Registry Search for the state of Maryland.
2. Staff #1 stated that the Sex Offender Search was not conducted.Plan of Correction: The center will complete a Sex Offender Search for staff and document the file.
