Technical Assistance:

The Inspector reviewed the new requirement for the school to have at least one working carbon monoxide detector in place on site. The Director was able to demonstrate full compliance with this new requirement. Reviewed the requirements for out of state background checks.

Comments:

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and a virtual tour of the program. A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 10/8/2021. The Director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 100 children present, ranging in ages from 21months to 5years, with 15 staff supervising. The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies. A total of 3 children's records and 2 new staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.

Description:	Based on a review of children's medications, it was determined that one medication authorization does not include all required information. Evidence: The authorization for one child's long term emergency prescription medication does not include a stop date for which the authorization is effective.
Plan of Correction:	The parent will be asked to have the form corrected by the doctor.

Description:	Based on a review of new staff records, it was determined that center management staff have not completed all required out of state background searches. Evidence: 1 - Staff person A began employment on 8/9/2021. The documentation in the file indicates that this staff person has resided in one other state outside of Virginia within the past 5 years. Center management staff have not completed the Sex Offender Registry search, nor the Out of State Criminal History Record search for this employee. 2 - Staff person B began employment on 9/8/2021. The documentation in the file indicates that this staff person has resided in three different states other than Virginia within the past 5 years. Center management staff have not completed the Sex Offender Registry search nor two of the three required Out of State Central Registry searches. In addition, center management staff have not submitted the two required Out of State Criminal History Record search requests.
Plan of Correction:	All search requests will be completed within 10 days as required. Documentation of each search and/or request will be sent to the Inspector.
