Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on 10/12/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 39 children present, ranging in ages from 5 years to 12 years, with 3 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C
Description: Based on review of three staff records it was determined that staff records did not always contain documentation of a tuberculosis (TB) screening every two years. Evidence: The most recent TB screening on file for staff A was dated 07/29/2019.

Plan of Correction: Staff A will obtain a TB screening and submit the results to administration.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-D-1
Description: Based on review of three staff records it was determined that administration failed to contact the office of background investigation to request the status of a central registry check when the background check was not returned within the first 30 days of employment. Evidence: The record for staff B (start date: 08/25/2021) did not have documentation of a central registry check nor documentation that the status of the background check had been requested.

Plan of Correction: Administration followed up on the status of the central registry check on 10/12/2021.
