Technical Assistance:
The new Licensed Child Day Center Standards (8VAC20-780) went into effect on October 13, 2021. The final version of the regulation can be viewed at https://law.lis.virginia.gov/admincode/title8/agency20/chapter780/.

The Office of Child Care Health and Safety is in the process of creating a PDF version of the regulation that will be available on the Child Care VA website at https://www.doe.virginia.gov/cc/providers/index.html?pageID=10.

In efforts to minimize the impact of the hardships experienced by many child care providers across the state and in good faith of our partnership with you, there will be a 90-day implementation period, from 10/13/21 to 1/13/2022.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews, and a virtual tour of the program.

This inspection was initiated and concluded on 11/03/2021. The Director was contacted and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 97 children present, ranging from 2 months to 10 years in age, with 19 staff supervising within 9 separate classrooms. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration; physical plant; staffing and supervision; programming; medication; special care and emergencies; and nutrition. A total of 5 children records, and all 7 new staff records were reviewed.

The information gathered during the inspection determined that there was not a violation to an applicable standard, code, and/or law. Therefore, a Violation Notice was not issued.

If you should have any questions, please call or send an email to charlie.perkins@doe.virginia.gov. Thank you.

Charlie Perkins,
Licensing Inspector
