The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the Virginia Department of Social Services. The violations listed below reflect the new VDOE codes and standards.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/16/2021 and concluded on same. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 32 children present, ranging in ages from 5 months to 5years. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 1 child records and 1 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Child #1 had a diagnosed food allergy. There is no allergy action plan completed byt the pohysician and on file for the child.,
Child 1Plan of Correction: The parent will be contacted and asked to have an allergy action plan completed.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-I Description: Based on a review of medications, one medication at the facility is not in an original container with a label attached.
Evidence:
Child #1 has an Avi-Q auto-injector at the facility. The medication is not in an original container with a prescription label attached.Plan of Correction: The parent has been contacted and asked to bring in the original container with the presription label attached.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A Description: Based on a review f records, one staff record does not include documentation of current first aid and CPR certification.
Evidence;
Staff A's record did not contain documentation of current First aid and CPR certification. The certification on file expired 6/2021. Recertification class was not taken until October 2021: however, there is no documentation to show the certification is current.Plan of Correction: We will contact the trainer to find out where are the certificates.
