This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. A monitoring inspection was conducted in response to a self-report made by the center in the area of programs. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-410-1 Description: Based on interviews and record review the center did not ensure staff did not use physical punishment.
Evidence:
On 12/07/2021, After one year-old Child 1 pushed a chair, Staff A used her fingers to tap Child 1 on the forehead, causing the child to fall to his bottom. The child's parent witnessed the situation watching through the classroom window. Staff A confirmed to the director that she had used her fingers to tap the child's forehead because he pushed a chair.Plan of Correction: The following correction action was provided by the director during the exit interview:
The staff was terminated immediately, as the center has a "no tolerance policy." In addition, the director held meetings with staff about behavioral guidance policies.
