22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

Discussed the injury prevention plan and allergy action list. Discussed the differences between diagnosed food allergies, restrictions and preferences.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 1/27/2022. At the time of entrance, 35 children were in care with 3 staff members present. Children were observed being checked in at arrival, lining up to wash hands and eating snack. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, injury reports, medications and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8 Description: Based on interview and review of the allergy list, the center did not have a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.

Plan of Correction: Written care plans for all children with allergies will be placed on site no later than February 3rd.
