22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 02/02/2022 and concluded on 02/10/2022. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 11 children present, ranging in ages from 2 years to 5 years, with 3 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records, 1 board officer's record and 2 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.036-A Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to obtain an updated search of the central registry check for an officer of the corporation every five years.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed one officer's record. Officer record #1 contained the results of a search of the central registry which was dated 08/07/2015.Plan of Correction: The request for the search of the central registry for officer #1 has been completed and submitted. Once the results are obtained, a copy will be sent to the licensing office.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-130-E Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every six months for children under the age of two years.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed two children's records. Child record #1 contained documentation of immunizations, but the documentation indicated that immunizations have only been administered twice, in July 2020 and June 2021. Child's date of birth is 7-24-2019.Plan of Correction: The parent has scheduled an appointment to update the child's immunizations. Once the updated immunization record is obtained, it will be maintained in the child's record. The director will review the children's records to ensure all immunization records are up to date.
