Technical Assistance:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and
monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the
Virginia Department of Social Services. Guidance, resources and training links can be found on the new website childcareva.com.

Comments:
An unannounced onsite inspection was conducted today. There were a total of 27 children with 2 staff when the Inspector arrived. Observation of the arrival, handwashing and snack was conducted. The children were enjoying their fruit roll ups for snack. Staff were observed sanitizing the tables after snack as the children lined up for the bathroom. A food drive was initiated by the CASA program at this location for the local community. A total of 5 children's records were reviewed and staff certifications in First Aid/CPR, MAT and Daily Health Observation was verified.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Description: Based on review of onsite medications, a written care plan for a child was a diagnosed food allergy was incomplete.
Evidence:
Child #1 has a diagnosed food allergy and has authorizations for an over the counter allergy medication and a prescribed emergency medication. The written care plan did not include steps to take for the emergency allergy medication.

Plan of Correction: We will obtain a new care plan that includes the Epi pen.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-540-C
Description: Based on inspection of the first aid kits, the first aid kit was not complete.
Evidence:
The first aid kit/kits only contained 1 triangular bandage.

Plan of Correction: We will get a second one.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-F
Description: Based on observation and staff statement, the current menu was not properly posted or reflect substitutions.
Evidence:
1.The weekly snack menu was not posted in a way that was visible to parents.
2. The snack menu for today included juice and graham crackers. Juice was not available and fruit roll ups were served.

Plan of Correction: We will ensure that menus are visible and all changes are written down.
