An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today between the hours of 2:15 pm-3:30 pm. There were a total of 28 children with two staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, handwashing, and independent activities. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place.
Evidence:
1. A one gallon container of hand sanitizer labeled "Keep out of reach of children" was located in a cubicle area of the school age classroom designated for sick children.Plan of Correction: The hand sanitizer will be locked up when the school age children are in care.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-B Description: Based on record review and interview, the center did ensure that the emergency preparedness plan was updated annually.
Evidence:
1. The center did not review and update the emergency preparedness plan. The date on the emergency preparedness plan was 02/13/2019.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that the site was closed for the a period of time and that the plan had not been updated for the new school year.Plan of Correction: The emergency preparedness plan will be reviewed and updated.
