Technical Assistance:
Discussed with program specialist, the need to implement procedures to ensure the allergy list is current and a way to ensure an allergy care plan is obtained even if medications are not provided by the parents.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today 3/14/2022 from 3:30pm-4:45pm. There were 26 children (school-age) directly supervised by 2 staff. The physical plant, 2 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, and emergency supplies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, doing homework and playing board games. There was an adequate supply of materials for the children. The program was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Description: Based on interviews and document review, it was determined that a written care plan was not obtained for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.

Evidence:
Child #1 was listed on the Children's Allergy, Food Sensitivities or Dietary Restrictions List; their physical form was reviewed and it was verified that the child has been diagnosed with food allergies. Child #1's record did not include an allergy care plan.

Plan of Correction: The Site Supervisor will give the parents the Food Allergy Action Plan paperwork for each child's physician to complete.
