Technical Assistance:
Reviewed the requirements for a complete food allergy action plan.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted today. At the time of this inspection there were 22 children in care, with a total of 4 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. The children were observed playing on the playground, enjoying various "Fun Friday" activities, engaging in creative play, and building with large classroom blocks.

The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administrative responsibilities, emergency preparedness, physical plant, medication, and staffing. A total of 2 children's records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
In both of the children's hallway bathrooms, there was a spray bottle of air freshener placed on the counter next to the handwashing sink.

Plan of Correction: Both spray bottles will be moved immediately today.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A-1
Description: Based on a review of staff training documents, it was determined that there was not at least one staff person with current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate to the age of the children in care on site during this inspection.
Evidence:
Of the staff present during this inspection, none held current CPR certification. The most recent certification expired on 3/10/22.

Plan of Correction: Expired staff have completed the online course portion. The in-person skills assessment is scheduled for 4/14/22.

Description: Based on a review of staff training documents, it was determined that there was not at least one staff person with current certification in First Aid on site during this inspection.
Evidence:
Of the staff present during this inspection, none held current First Aid certification. The most recent certification expired on 3/10/22.

Plan of Correction: Expired staff have completed the online course portion. The in-person skills assessment is scheduled for 4/14/22.
