Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was offered regarding: New policies required by revised licensing regulations; linens used for cots for naptime.

The center demonstrated compliance in the installation of the carbon monoxide detector.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 10:40 am to 12:10 pm. There were 44 children in care of 7 staff members. The children were observed listening to stories, playing a memory game, coloring and eating lunch. The lunch menu included fish sticks, potatoes, beans, applesauce, bread and milk. There were no medications on site. The center is current on all emergency drills and first aid kit.

Description: Based on records review, the center did not develop written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma, including coping with crying babies, and sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
Evidence: A review of the center's policies and procedures showed that written policies for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma, including coping with crying babies, and sudden infant death syndrome awareness were missing. The center did have a written policy for safe sleep practices.

Plan of Correction: Our policy related to awareness and prevention of SIDS, SBS or AHT, and how to respond to a crying baby has been added to our policy manual.
