22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

An unannounced on-site renewal inspection was conducted on 04/01/2022. There were 9 children, ages 3 years -5 years, and 2 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector observed the following: free choice activities, snack, handwashing, large motor play outside, and story time. A total of 2 children?s records and 2 staff records, were reviewed. The inspector discussed the following with staff physical examination for children requirements.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation of the cabinet under the sink, the center failed to ensure that all hazardous chemicals had a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. The locking method on the doors of the cabinet did not prevent entry into where the hazardous chemicals were stored. The children in care were able to access the chemicals.Plan of Correction: During the inspection all chemicals were moved to the locking closet.
