Technical Assistance:
Inspector and director discussed staff trainings, storing staff belongings, medications and new regulations.

Comments:
An in-person renewal inspection was conducted on April 20, 2022. There were 107 children present with 17 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. Children were observed preparing for snack, circle time, independent play, reading books and transitioning to outdoor play. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place.

Evidence:
1) In room #3, a sanitizer bottle was in an unlocked upper cabinet.
2) In room #7, a sanitizer bottle was in a unlocked lower cabinet.
3) In room #4, tide pods were stored in an unlocked closet.
4) In room #11, Bona floor cleaner was observed in the corner of the classroom.

Plan of Correction: Cabinets were locked at inspection. Other items will stored in locked closets. We will remind staff to keep hazardous items locked.
