Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance: New staff orientation, playground, medication storage bags, emergency plan.

The center demonstrated compliance related to the installation of a carbon monoxide detector.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:15 am to 12:25pm. There were 55 children present, with 17 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. Children were observed in the following activities: playing outdoors, diapering, eating lunch, and handwashing was observed after using the restroom. Medications, attendance records, emergency drill records, and the center's updated policies were reviewed. A total of 3 children's records and 3 staff records were also reviewed.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-C
Description: Based on record review, staff orientation did not include all facility specific topics.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1's first day of employment was 3/14/22.
2. Staff # 1's orientation did not include the following topics: a. prevention of sudden infant death syndrome; b. prevention of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma; c. prevention and response to food and allergic reactions; and d. prevention and control of disease.

Plan of Correction: Training in all topics was completed on 2/24/22 but the wrong form for orientation was documentation was completed. The correct form was completed shortly after the inspection was complete.

Description: Based on record review, within 30 days of the first day of employment, staff did not complete orientation training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as appropriate to the age of the children in care.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1's first day of employment was 3/14/22.
2. Staff # 1's record did not complete orientation training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), within 30 days of employment.

Plan of Correction: Training in all topics was completed on 2/24/22 but the wrong form for orientation was documentation was completed. The correct form was completed shortly after the inspection was complete.
