Discussed reviewing the new CDC standards that became effective 10-13-2021 and the new website (Child Care VA)

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and an in person tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on May 9, 2022 and concluded on May 10, 2022. There were 43 children present, ranging in ages from 4 months to age 5, with 7 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-440-B
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure cribs, cots, rest mats, and beds shall be identified for use by a specific child.

Evidence: During the inspection, in the infant room there was an infant, child #3 sleeping in a crib identified for use by another child.

Plan of Correction: Staff member will be retrained.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-520-C
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure if diaper ointment or cream is used the products shall be labeled with a child's name.

Evidence: During the inspection, in the infant room 4 diaper creams were reviewed and one was not labeled with a child's name.

Plan of Correction: Staff member will be retrained.
