Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on:
1) CPR certification must include an in-person competency demonstration. The National CPR foundation's online program is not a satisfactory certification in Virginia;
2) Program director requirements
3) Graco incline sleeper in infant room - please check CPSC website for recalls
4) Standard 40L: the center shall inform all staff who work with children of children's allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions
4) Standard 40M: the center shall maintain a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions and shall be dated

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 12:30 - 2:30 pm with staff. There were 49 children, ranging from 7 months to five years of age, present with 6 staff supervising. Children were observed napping during the inspection. Five children's records and four staff records were reviewed. One medication and it's authorization form, 5 accident reports, the emergency drill log, written attendance records, written allergy list, fire and health inspections were all reviewed. Standard #: 22.1-289.058
Description: Based on observation and an interview with staff, the facility is not equipped with at least one carbon monoxide detector as required. Evidence: per staff, there was no carbon monoxide detector in the facility.

Plan of Correction: Staff stated they will install a carbon monoxide detector.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A
Description: Based on review of five children's records, it was determined that not all records contained all required information. Evidence: the records for child #4 and child #5, with diagnosed food allergies, did not contain an allergy care plan.

Plan of Correction: Staff stated they will obtain the missing information.
