Technical Assistance:
A leak, in an area unused by the children, was observed as an HVAC contractor worked to repair the area. The director has worked with multiple contractors for the past 3 weeks to verify the origin of the leak. LI discussed procedures/best practices with the Director for relocating children and notifying parents had the leak been in a classroom being used. The corporate office was also aware of the issue as the problem was being solved. The classroom, usually used for indoor gross motor activities, will remain closed to children until fixed.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/09/2022. 60 children were directly supervised by 13 staff. The physical space, 4 children's records, 3 new staff records, required posted documents, evacuation drills and medications were reviewed. Children were observed during outside play, engaging with staff in circle time activities, and playing with age appropriate materials. Infant bottles were labeled correctly and infants were observed crawling, interacting with staff, participating in tummy time and exploring materials set out by staff. The lunch being prepared was pasta, green beans and pears.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the program. For questions regarding this inspection, please contact Stephanie.salvatori@doe.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-D
Description: Based on record review, and interview with Director, the record logging monthly evacuation drills was incomplete. Evidence: The Evacuation Drill Log was missing the data for the drills conducted in April. The information was unavailable for review.

Plan of Correction: We keep track of the drills on a paper log and on the computer as back up. The person who keeps track of the computer logs is out today and we are unable to access the log to verify if the drill was done in April. Moving forward, we will make sure we can access the computer log and we will make sure both logs are completed to reflect our monthly drills.
