An inspection was conducted today to review the newly renovated playground. There were 47 children present with 8 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of physical plant and programming.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on a tour of the playground, the facility failed to ensure that equipment is maintained in safe condition.
Evidence:
1. Under the climber there are numerous bolts protruding, showing more than two threads, creating entanglement points.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B Description: Based on a tour of the playground, the facility failed to ensure that resilient surface material complies with minimum safety standards.
Evidence:
1. At the base of the gray plastic steps up to the deck, a wooden ramp was built. This ramp is within the required 6 foot fall zone.
2. The fall zone for the swing, which is attached to the climber, is within the fall zone for the climbing wall and the curved yellow slide.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-430-C Description: Based on a tour of the playground, the facility failed to ensure that there are no head entrapments points on the climbing equipment.
Evidence:
1. On the deck with the climbing wall, the lower rail of the side rails allows a 3 1/2 in by 6 1/4 rectangle to pass through. It does not allow a 9 inch circle to pass through, creating a head entrapment point.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
