Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Monday, July 25, 2022, to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspection begin at 10:01 AM and concluded at 12:00 PM. The census for today's inspection consisted of 32 children in care and 7 staff supervising. During the tour, the inspector observed the children participating in circle time, playing with infant toys, playing on the playground and interacting with peers and staff. The inspector observed all 5 classrooms, playground, kitchen, and restrooms. The classrooms are equipped with age and stage-appropriate materials. The center's first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The required postings were inspected and found to be in compliance. Liability insurance, health inspection, and drills were all in compliance. Three children's and three staff records were reviewed. Violations were cited during this inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation of the center, one area was found not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. The fencing located off the Pre-K classroom is bent with sharp edges. 2. The gate located on this fencing has a gap between the gate and the pole. 3. There were 2 sharp knives and a pair of kitchen scissors located in an unsecured drawer in the classroom kitchen in the Pre-K classroom. 4. There was a sharp butcher knife in a bucket on the counter in the 2 year old classroom kitchen.

Plan of Correction: Fencing to be repaired.
Will come up with alternative storage/ lock system for knives, and sharp items.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-570-E
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that prepared infant formula brought to the center was labeled as required. Evidence: 3 infant bottles of formula viewed in the refrigerator were not dated with today?s date.

Plan of Correction: We will re-visit with infant teachers to endure all bottles are properly labeled.
