The Licensing Inspector conducted an unannounced complaint inspection in response to a complaint that was received by the licensing office on 8/19/2022. Observations of classrooms and interviews with staff were conducted relating to the allegations of ratios . The inspector arrived at 8:00 am and began to observe and count children and staff in all classrooms until 9:00 am. The information gathered during this investigation supports the allegations, so the complaint is determined to be valid. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-350-B-4 Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation and staff interview, the staff to children ratio for the 3 year olds up to school age eligibility was not maintained at 1 staff to 10 children whenever children were in care.
Evidence: The inspector observed the Private Kindergarten class at 8:07 am, there were 2 classes combined which included the Private Pre-K and Private Kindergarten class. There was 1 staff with 12 children, the youngest age being 4 years old. The class continued to be out of ratio until 8:32am, at that time there was 1 staff with 15 children, the youngest age being 4 years.
At 8:32 am another staff arrived to assist with staffing, she took the Private Pre k class which had 8 children.Plan of Correction: There are 4 new staff starting this week, their starting hours will be between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.
