8VAC20-790 Subsidy Regulations

Comments:
A subsidy inspection (SHSI) was conducted on September 8, 2022. The inspector arrived at 9:10 AM and departed at approximately 11am. There were 42 children present and 8 staff members. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental Inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable subsidy standards and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the Director at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the vendor did not ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 (date of hire 7/17/20) has an expiry date of June 2022 for their CPR and First Aid certificate.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that Staff #2 has an expired CPR and First Aid certificate.

Plan of Correction: The vendor responded with the following: Staff #2 will enroll in an in-person CPR and First Aid class and provide a copy of their certificate for their case record.
