Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, September 12, 2022 to determine the centers compliance with licensing standards. Most but not all standards were reviewed during today's inspection. On September 12, 2022, the licensing inspector was on site from approximately 8:45 am to 10:45 am. The Director assisted with the inspection. There were 21 children present, ranging in ages from five months to 23 months, with seven staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. Children were observed playing with blocks, being feed, and listening to a story. Staff interacted with children in a positive manner. A total of four child records and three staff records were reviewed. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector.

Evidence:

The record of child #4, enrolled 05/27/2022, documented a diagnosed food allergy. Child #4 was not listed on the allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions document. The allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions document was not dated. The director stated she was aware of the food allergy for child #4, however she had not up dated the allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions list.

Plan of Correction: Per the director: I will add child #4 to the allergy document and date it today. I will ensure all new or any changes with allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions are listed immediately.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-F
Description: Based on review of medication, the facility did not maintain a medication authorization that was available to staff during the entire time it?s effective.

Evidence:

Emergency medication, on-site, for child #4 did not have a medication authorization that was available to staff. The director stated they did not have a medication authorization for the medication.

Plan of Correction: Per the director: I will request that the parent provide a medication authorization tonight at pick up.
