8VAC20-790 SUBSIDY REGULATIONS

Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted on-site September 14, 2022. There were 36 children present with 8 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on a review of records and interview on September 14, 2022, the vendor failed to obtain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of the children in care within 90 days of employment.
Evidence: The record of staff #5 (hired 7/14/21) did not contain documentation of a CPR certificate. Staff #6 confirmed the CPR certificate was not completed on-time.

Plan of Correction: Director will ensure newly-hired staff receive CPR training within the time frame specified in the standards. Administrative staff will review staff records at least monthly to ensure required training & documentation is up-to-date.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-2
Description: Based on a review of records and interview on September 14, 2022, the vendor failed to ensure each staff member had a current certification in first aid within 90 days of employment.
Evidence: The record of staff #5 (hired 7/14/21) did not contain documentation of a first aid certificate. Staff #6 confirmed the first aid certificate was not completed on-time.

Plan of Correction: Director will ensure newly-hired staff receive 1st aid training within the time frame specified in the standards. Administrative staff will review staff records at least monthly to ensure required training & documentation is up-to-date.
