8VAC20-790 Subsidy Regulations

Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on 10/17/22 and concluded on 10/17/22. There were 20 children present with 8 staff supervising and 2 administrators. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure all staff has current certification in CPR.

Evidence:

1. The record for staff 3 was reviewed. The employment date was 4/18/22. There was not documentation in staff 3's record of completing training in CPR.
2. The record for staff 4 was reviewed. The CPR certificate in staff 4's record expired 8/22.
3. 3. The director verified neither staff 3 or staff 4 have a current CPR certification.

Plan of Correction: A class has been scheduled for 10/21/22 for all staff that need certification in CPR and first aid. In the future the director has created a spread sheet that will be reviewed the first of each month to ensure staff CPR certification does not expire. All new staff will be required to obtain certification in CPR within the first 90 days of employment.
