Discussion of subsidy standards in regards to allergies, timeline for CPR/First aid, and annual lockdown drill.

Comments:
This Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 10/26/2022, between the hours of 9:30 am to 1 pm. There were 47 children present with 7 staff supervising, across 6 separate classrooms. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined (1) non-compliance with the applicable standard. This violation was documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on review, 1 of 4 new staff files indicated that the all staff who work directly with children did not have within 90 days of the date of employment a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (10/26/2022), certification for CPR/First Aid was not available for review for Staff #3.
2. The start date for Staff #3 was listed as 06/15/2022.

Plan of Correction: A CPR/First Aid certification course has been scheduled for this staff person.
