Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 3:20pm-4:45pm. There were 60 children (School-age) directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Staff record review is completed annually at the administrative office through the County of Loudoun, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services. Children were observed participating in group play and playing outside. There was an adequate supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on observation and interview, the program did not ensure that staff who work with children were informed of children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions.

Evidence:
1. During the inspection Child #1's medication was found by the inspector in the program's storage closet. The medication was not stored in the locked medication box where children's medications are kept.
2. Staff working at the center were not aware that the child had a diagnosed food allergy and that the parents had dropped off medication for the child. The child was not listed on the written list of children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions.
