Technical Assistance:
Discussed new attendance requirements and storage of cots in restrooms.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:20am-12:40pm. There were 21 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, playing outside, and eating eating lunch. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on record review, the center did not develop written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma, including coping with crying babies, safe sleeping practices, and sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
Evidence:
The center could not produce written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma on the date of inspection.

Plan of Correction: We will develop written procedures for shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma.
