Comments:
Unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on November 1, 2022 between the hours of 11:40am and 2:00pm. There were 3 classrooms observed with a total of 30 children with 7 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing on the playground, participating in story-time, diapering and bathroom procedures, lunch and rest-time A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, evacuation drill logs, medication, required posted documents, first aid supplies, and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-290-A-3
Description: Based on observation, electrical outlets did not have protective covers.
Evidence: The Pre-K classroom had 3 electrical outlets without protective covers.

Plan of Correction: I will get the covers on them.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A
Description: Based on observation, staff did not wash their hands with soap and running water before preparing or serving food or beverages.
Evidence:
Staff #2 did not wash their hands before serving food or beverages to the children in their care.

Plan of Correction: I will retrain the staff today.
Violation was corrected during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A
Description: Based on observation, staff did not wash their hands with soap and running water before and after helping a child use the toilet.
Evidence:
1. Staff #5 (twos class) did not wash their hands after assisting a child in the bathroom.
2. Staff #4 (threes class) did not wash their hands after assisting a child in the bathroom.

Plan of Correction: I will retrain my staff today and we have a staff meeting coming up, so we will retrain them at that time.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B
Description: Based on observation, the diapering area in the twos class did not use disposable towels to clean the diapering surface.
Evidence: Staff #5 used a washcloth to clean the diapering surface.

Plan of Correction: I will speak to her now. We are supposed to use disposable towels.
Violation corrected during the inspection.
