8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 10/19/2022 from 10:45am to 2:00pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 75 children ages 6 months to age 4 years old supervised by 12 staff. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, 18 medications with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in group play, math activities, dramatic play and lunch. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in (Medication Administration Training (MAT).
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
