Technical Assistance:
As discussed, please forward your renewal application prior to the expiration date in February.

Please ensure that your emergency preparedness plan is reviewed on an annual basis.

The 3 hour update preservice training is required by all staff on an annual basis.

As discussed, please relocate the most recent Inspection Report in an area that is more easily accessible to the public.

Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring Inspection was conducted today. A total of 80 children with 14 staff were onsite. Observation of all occupied classrooms (7 classes) was conducted. Positive interaction between staff and children was observed. Handwashing and diapering procedures were in place. The center was decorated with fall decorations and projects completed by the children such as painted turkeys, cutting latices for construction paper pies and "Autumn for Apples" where the children in the Pre K2 class learned about the parts of the apple.
A review of medication, topical ointments and the centers emergency drills was completed. A total of 8 children's records that included allergy action plans and medication authorizations was reviewed along with 3 new staff records. This inspection was conducted between 9am and 12pm. Description: Based on observation of the center, a hazardous substances was found unlocked.
Evidence:
Two cleaning agents were located in a bottom unlocked cabinet in the PreK 2 classroom.

Plan of Correction: A cabinet latch lock was placed on this cabinet immediately.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-G
Description: Based on observation of the classrooms, food brought home was not properly labeled.
Evidence:
Food brought from home was not labeled with the date and child's name in the Infant 2 class refrigerator.

Plan of Correction: Food was labeled and dated by staff.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-N
Description: Based on observation of the center, food was not stored in a clean and sanitary manner.
Evidence:
The trays used to store infant bottles in the Infant classrooms was unclean and had dried debris on the bottom of the trays.

Plan of Correction: All soiled trays were washed. Staff will maintain cleanliness of the trays.
