Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. The inspector was onsite from 10:30am to approximately 2:15pm. There were a total of 53 children in care in the direct care of 11 staff members. During the inspection, the children and staff were observed participating in a variety of activities. Staff were observed having positive interactions with the children. All areas of the facility including classrooms, kitchen, hallways, playground, and bathrooms were inspected. The center is equipped with toys and supplies and items were available to the children. The required postings were reviewed and found to be in compliance. During the inspection, five children's records and five staff records were reviewed.

A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on a review of five staff records and interview, the vendor did not ensure two staff had current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of the date of employment.

Evidence: 1) The CPR certification in the record of Staff #2, employed 06/28/22, was completed on 11/11/22. 2) The CPR certification in the record of Staff #3, employed 06/28/22, was completed on 11/11/22.

Plan of Correction: Corrected. Moving forward, staff will have CPR and first aid certification within the first 90 days of employment.
