Technical Assistance:
Reminder: The emergency escape drill needs to be conducted and recorded monthly. Shelter-in-place drill needs to be conducted and recorded twice a year.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the assistant director beginning at 12:06pm and ending at 3:17pm. There were 102 children, ages ranging between 4 months through 5 years old, in the direct care of 17 staff. The children were observed finishing lunch which included pasta with tomato sauce, broccoli, orange pieces, and milk. The children were also observed transitioning to nap time. Five children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Five staff records were reviewed. Two medications were reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. The menu, daily attendance, and emergency drill log were reviewed. The most recent health inspection was dated 8/31/2022. The most recent fire inspection was dated as 9/14/2022.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Description: Based on a review of documentation, the center failed to obtain a central registry finding within 30 days of employment for all staff. Evidence: Staff A (hired11/07/2022), staff B (hired 10/11/2022), and staff C (hired 11/07/2022) did not have a documentation of a central registry finding in their records.

Plan of Correction: The central registry findings were requested. The director will follow up with the Office of Background Investigation to obtain the status of the pending Central Registry findings.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P
Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure that when an authorization for a medication expires that the parent shall be notified that the medication needs to be picked up within 14 days or the parent must renew the authorization. Evidence: Child #1 had a medication on site and the parent's authorization for the medication expired on 07/06/2022.

Plan of Correction: The medication will be returned to the parent or an updated parental authorization will be obtained.
