An unannounced on-site renewal inspection was conducted on 05/09/2023; a staff record and policy/procedure review will be conducted on a later date. There were 47 children, ages 5 years-11 years, and a total of 5 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed arriving to the program, having an afternoon snack, in large motor play in the gym and participating in free choice activities. A total of 5 children?s records and 4 medications were reviewed. The inspector arrived to the center at 2:30 pm and departed at 4:00 pm.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: The large metal cabinet containing the cleaning materials, such as Clorox and germicide, was unlocked.Plan of Correction: Will keep the cabinet locked.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-L Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that medication shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
