Evidence:
The Licensing Inspector (LI) observed a container of sanitizing wipes sitting on the counter in the hallway, the wipes were within reach of children.
The LI observed an unlocked and open cabinet above the sink in the toddler classroom that contained a spray bottle of sanitizing agent, a disinfectant deodorizer and sanitizing wipes.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-340-F Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation, it was determined that children under 10 years of age were not always in actual sight and sound supervision of staff.
Evidence:
Upon arrival, the Licensing Inspector observed children in the primary classroom ( 3 to 6 years of age) leave their room and engage in activities in the adjoining room. These children were out of sight and sound supervision of the 2 staff in the primary classroom.
The LI was able to access the children in this adjoining room without staff's knowledge.
Additionally , the LI observed at least 2 children leave the primary classroom and go to the bathroom. The bathrooms are next to the door used by the public to access the center. This LI was able to enter the center and oberve the children in and out of the bathroom without any staff's knowledge or supervision.
There was no system to assure that individuals who are not staff members or persons allowed to pick up a child in care do not enter the restroom area while use by children.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-350-B-2 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on interview and a review of attendance log, it was determined that the center failed to maintain the 1 staff to 5 children ratio for children between the ages of 16 months to 24 months.
