- When the center provides sunscreen , be sure to label the bottles identifying it is center-kept.
-When school-age children are using the pre-k classroom's bathroom as a group, it is best practice that both rooms coordinate a time that does not disrupt important transition times and not exceed the room's capacity.
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 07/11/2023. There were 47 children present and 14 staff. A tour of the facility was conducted, in addition to a record review and interviews with staff. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on observation and interview the center did not ensure all areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside were maintained in a safe condition.
. At the playground entrance/exit there was a tall trash can and a blue tote that had 3-4" of standing water. Near the picnic area of the playground there was about 1-1.5" of standing water on the ground. The director confirmed it was from rain that occurred a couple of days before and was never dumped or cleaned.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
1. In the twos classroom the cabinet under the changing table was unlocked, containing a spray bottle of disinfectant spray.
2. The staff closet was open and unlocked, containing 21 different cleaning agents.
Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee:
All cabinets are locked and checked throughout the day.
