Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted today. A total of 83 children with 16 staff were observed. A total of 7 classrooms were occupied today. All 7 rooms were observed. A planned event was underway on the playground. The children were engaged in a color run event. Staff were observed strategically placed on the playground to ensure adequate supervision was maintained. Observation of transitions from the playground into the classrooms was made. The staff were observed conducting "face to name" procedures to ensure that all children were accounted for. Handwashing and diapering procedures were observed as the children prepared for lunch. In the infant room, staff were observed bottle feeding, sitting by low high chairs while some infants ate lunch. The food was cut up in small pieces by staff. The classrooms were decorated with art projects and lesson plan activities such as handprint clovers and "The Tiny Seed" artwork. In the PreK class sounds of the week were on the lesson board and a lesson on the Festival of Colors was on display. Lunch today was chicken, green beans, fruit cocktail and buns. A total of 6 children's files, all medication authorizations and allergy plans, and a total of 5 staff files were reviewed. The previous violations from the last inspection were reviewed and the corrective actions were verified. Some violations were found today. Please address a corrective action for each. This inspection occurred between 10:30am and 1:30pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virignia.gov with any questions.
