Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M Description: The center shall maintain in a way that is accessible to all staff a current written list of all children with allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room/area where children are present.
1. The allergy list posted in classroom 107 was dated 8/21/23, however the current list is dated 12/4/23.
2. Child A has an allergy to walnuts and pecans and their allergies were not posted on the 12/4/23 list.
3. Child B enrolled on 2/9/24 with a nut allergy. Child B's allergy was never included on the allergy list.Plan of Correction: Allergy lists were corrected and updated in all classrooms on 5/8/24.
Staff were notified of the allergy violations on 5/8/24.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-340-F Description: Children under 10 years of age shall always be within actual sight and sound supervision of staff.
The partial wall prevented the staff in the infant room from having sight supervision of 4 infants who were in their cribs in the napping area.Plan of Correction: Staff have been instructed to have one staff member present where cribs are located if there is a child napping. All staff were notified of a sight supervision violation on 5/8/24.Admin met with infant staff individually on 5/9/24 to ensure all staff understand sight and sound regulations.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-520-B Description: Sunscreen shall be inaccessible to children under 5 years of age.
Sunscreen was on a shelf in reach of children in classroom 104, which serves children from 12 to 24 months of age.Plan of Correction: Staff were reminded that even when applying sunscreen, it should remain out of
reach of all children. The staff member was met with on 5/8/24 to discuss how to safely apply and store sunscreen. All staff were notified of the sunscreen violation on 5/8/24.
