Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today.
All rooms were in ratio during the inspection. 3 child and 1 new staff member records were reviewed. All were complete.
Emergency evacuation drills, first aid supplies, emergency supplies, the playground and medications were all in compliance today.
Children were observed during a diaper change, washing hands, having a drink after outside water play, being bottle fed and playing in the water outside.

Also discussed with Admin staff: stacking cots with blankets on them.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the center was not maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
1.The Two's-1 room has a broken cabinet door.
2. A tricycle on the playground has a broken pedal.

Plan of Correction: We have notified facility management that the cabinet door was broken. We will notify them again.
The broken trike will be removed from the playground.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous materials were not stored locked when not in use.
Evidence:
In the Two's-2 and Two's-1 rooms:
1. Bleach water spray bottle for diapering was not stored locked after use.
2. Glass cleaner was not stored locked in the Two's -1 room.

Plan of Correction: We will store the spray bottles in a locked cabinet.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-420-E-1
Description: Based on caregiver statements, parents have not been informed of the amount of time spent on their stomachs for infants that cannot turn themselves over.
Evidence:
Time spent of stomach was not documented for two infants that are required to have "tummy time". (Children #1, 2)

Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to document the tummy time in the Notes section of the daily report.
