Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was completed on July 25, 2024. The on-site inspection began at 10:25 am and ended at 11:30 am. The inspector reviewed compliance
in the areas listed above. There were 8 children present and 2 staff. The inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 1 staff record on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on August 1, 2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-150-B Description: Each immunization report shall be signed by a physician, his designee, or an official of a local health department. Child #1's immunization report was not signed. Plan of Correction: Management requested a signed immunization from family. This is due no later than 08/14/24 or care will be temporarily suspended until required paperwork is on file.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Hazardous substances, such as cleaning materials, shall be kept in a locked place. There were cleaning supplies on the changing table and in a cabinet under the changing table sink, unlocked and accessible to children. Plan of Correction: Management completed a re-training with all staff on 07/27/2024 regarding locking hazardous substances as well as informing management of any items in need of repair.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-290-A-3 Description: Electrical outlets, in areas used by children of preschool age or younger, shall have protective covers. There was an uncovered electrical outlet in the occupied Pre-K classroom. Plan of Correction: Management addressed outlet covers with all staff at the 07/27/2024 staff meeting. Management will monitor outlet covers daily.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A-1 Description: At least one staff in each classroom shall have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Staff #1 does not have a current certification in CPR and was observed working in a classroom alone. Plan of Correction: CPR Training scheduled on 08/19/2024. Put the teacher with another teacher have CPR & First Aid.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A-2 Description: At least one staff in each classroom shall have current certification in first aid. Staff #1 does not have a current certification in first aid and was observed working in a classroom alone. Plan of Correction: 1st Aid Training scheduled on 08/19/2024. Put the teacher with another teacher have CPR & First Aid.
