1. Exterior areas of building, to include building siding and rubber surface on play structure steps should be monitored closely for maintenance to avoid potential injuries.
2. Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with Potable Water Lead Testing set by the Code of Virginia, which is legislation assed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs that serve preschool age children, to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels , the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was conducted on 9/13/24. The on-site inspection began at 9:30am and ended at 11:35am. The inspectors reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 132 children present and 17 direct-care staff. The inspectors reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records while on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility and interviews. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business day from the date the report was sent to you, which will be close of business on 9/24/24. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
A container of laundry detergent was in an unlocked lower level cabinet in the 4-5 year old classroom; and a can of spray disinfectant, surface cleaning wipes, and a spray bottle of bleach + water solution were unlocked in a toddler classroom.Plan of Correction: All hazardous material will be kept in a locked closet out of reach of children.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-350-B-2 Description: The staff-to-child ratios, of 1 staff to 5 children for children ages 16-24 months are required whenever children are in care.
There were 2 staff caring for 15 children for a period of about 5 minutes.Plan of Correction: All staff were present 1 teacher was in the restroom. Teachers must report to admin when they step out of the room, in order to maintain ratios.
