Comments:
An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 9/17/2024. The on-site inspection began at 3:25pm and ended at 4:20pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 51 children present and 4 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 4 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review tour of the facility, interviews and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P
Description: When an authorization for medication expires, the facility shall notify parents that the medication must be picked up within 14 days of the authorization expiring or that a new authorization should be completed. Medications that are not picked up by the parent within 14 days shall be disposed of by the center.

Medication for Child #1 was onsite, but the medication authorization had expired over 21 days ago. The authorization had not been renewed and the medication was not returned or disposed of as required.

Plan of Correction: Will get new authorization from parent.
