63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect
During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/20/2024 and completed on 11/21/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:20 am and ended at 11:15 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 11 children present and 6 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site. Requested documents were reviewed electronically on 11/21/2024. This inspection included document review, interviews, and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on (date). A POC submitted after this 11/28/2024 will not appear on the public website.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-60-C-2 Description: For staff hired before July 1, 2024, providers must obtain the results of a central registry search for an employee, within 30 days of service. Staff #2 did not have central registry search results during the inspection and has been employed for over 14 months. Staff #4 central registry search results were obtained 90 days after date of hire. Plan of Correction: Staff #2 will immediately have the central registry search results obtained documents. Staff #4 will have the central registry search results completed within the reg. 30 days window moving forward.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Several bottles of cleaning and sanitizing solution with warning labels, ?Keep out of reach of children,? were unlocked in the three and four-year-old classroom closets. Plan of Correction: All cleaning & sanitizing solutions will be immediately locked in a secure closet. Staff will be trained on proper storage & safety procedures.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A Description: Children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks. The children in the three-year-old classroom did not wash their hands before morning snack. Plan of Correction: Staff will ensure that all children wash their hands with soap & running water before & after meals.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-F Description: Centers shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of the Child Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which requires two food groups shall be served as snack. The snack provided consisted of only one food group. Plan of Correction: Staff will ensure that all snacks include at least two food groups as required by USDA child care food program guidelines. Ongoing monitoring.
