Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed.

Technical Assistance:

Technical assistance was provided in the following area: Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 11/25/2024. THe inspection began at 1:30 PM and ended at 4:00 PM. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 70 children present and 18 staff. The inspector reviewed 6 children?s records and 7 staff records on site. This inspection included: - document review, - tour of the facility, - interviews, and - observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Within 15 calendar days of your receipt of the inspection findings (inspection summary, violation notice, and supplemental information), you may request a review and discussion of these findings with the inspector's immediate supervisor. To make a request for review and discussion, you must contact the licensing supervisor at the regional licensing office that serves your geographical area. Regardless of whether a supervisory review has been requested, the results of the inspection will be posted to the DSS public website within 5 business days of your receipt of the Inspection Summary and/ or Violation Notice. The department's inspection findings are subject to public disclosure.

Description:	Disposable diapers shall be disposed in a leakproof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot-operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches an exterior surface of the storage system during disposal. A staff person was observed lifting the lid of the diaper disposal system with their hands to dispose of a soiled diaper.
Plan of Correction:	Thee facility responded with the following: All staff in classroom with children in diapers or pull-ups will be reminded that the foot is to be used to open the diaper disposal system so that neither their hands nor the soiled diaper touches the exterior of the disposal system.
