Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was completed on 12/12/2024, as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 1:00pm and ended at 2:30pm.The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. There were 65 children present and 12 staff. The inspector reviewed 6 children?s records and 3 staff records. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-1
Description: the center is required to provide prior to staff's first day of employment, a sworn statement or affirmation disclosing whether he has ever been convicted of or is the subject of pending charges for any offense within or outside the Commonwealth and whether he has been the subject of a founded complaint of child abuse or neglect within or outside the Commonwealth.

Staff #2 was employed at the center for 4 days without having signed a sworn statement of affirmation.

Plan of Correction: This was an oversight. The staff member signed the sworn statement on 12/06/2024. The director will ensure all staff have a signed statement of affirmation file prior to a staff member's first day of employment.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-540-B
Description: Each first aid kit shall be easily accessible to staff but not to children.

In the school-age room, the first aid kit located on a cart next to the exit to the playground was accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: During the inspection the director relocated the first aid kit to a place that was inaccessible to children.
